Nghe An fined 25 million VND for one out-of-province fishing boat for 'destructive' fishing
(Baonghean.vn) - A fishing boat in Thanh Hoa province using electric shock to catch fish in Nghe An waters was recently discovered and fined by authorities.
On June 6, the Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port announced that it had coordinated with Squadron 2, Nghe An Border Guard to temporarily detain a fishing boat from Thanh Hoa province (with 5 crew members) for illegally using electric shock to catch seafood in the waters of Cua Lo, Nghe An.

Accordingly, at 9:15 p.m. on June 5, in the Cua Lo sea area, Nghe An, about 8 nautical miles east of the shore, the patrol and control force of the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station and Squadron 2 discovered and caught red-handed a fishing boat with a capacity of 420CV, with license plate TH 91256 TS owned by Mr. Hoang Van Hiep, born in 1970, residing in Hai Ninh commune, Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa province, using a trawl net (drag net) and a 3-phase electric shock to illegally catch seafood.
Through vehicle inspection, the authorities seized a 3-phase generator motor and about 150m of electrical wire.
The Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port has completed the documents, fined the fishing boat owner 25 million VND and confiscated all evidence.
