Nghe An: Fined 50 million VND for electronic news site and requested to stop operation of 3 electronic news sites
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Department of Information and Communications Inspectorate imposed an administrative fine of VND50 million on an unlicensed general information website. The Inspectorate also proposed to temporarily suspend the operation of three interactive information websites in Nghe An.
Through monitoring and supervision, the Inspectorate of the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications discovered that 3 electronic information sites: http://nghean24h.info; http://halovinh.com.vn; xunghetoday.com did not have a License to establish a general electronic information site. In particular, the website xunghetoday.com showed signs of self-producing news and articles that were not in the business's field of operation, operating as an electronic newspaper.

The Inspectorate of the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications has used professional measures to identify the owners of each website. At the same time, it worked with the owner of the general website http://nghean24h.info. At the meeting, the unit that set up the general website was clearly aware of the violation and committed to strictly complying with the provisions of the law during its operation.
Realizing that the motive and purpose of the unit establishing the general electronic information website http://nghean24h.info was only to further support the unit's production and business activities, the Inspectorate of the Department of Information and Communications proceeded to impose an administrative penalty for the act of "DesignEstablishing a general electronic information website without a license" prescribed in Clause 5, Article 20 of Decree 119/2020/ND-CP with the amount of 50 million VND.

Regarding the two websites: http://halovinh.com.vn; http://xunghetoday.com, because the domain name registrants have addresses in Hanoi city and Khanh Hoa province, the Department Inspectorate has advised the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications to transfer the file to request the local Department of Information and Communications to handle according to their authority.
In addition to handling violations according to its authority, the Department Inspectorate also advised the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications to issue a document requesting the Vietnam Internet Center to temporarily suspend the operations of the above 3 domain names.

In the coming time, the Inspectorate of the Department of Information and Communications of Nghe An will further strengthen the monitoring and supervision of electronic information sites in the area and electronic information sites that publish information about Nghe An to advise the Department of Information and Communications on more effective and strict management solutions. That process will strictly handle electronic information sites that violate the law, contributing to a healthy network environment.
General information websites will be fined up to 200 million VND if they violate regulations.
