According to information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province: This year, the province's merchandise export turnover is estimated at 3.207 billion USD, an increase of 31.2% compared to 2023, exceeding the plan by 16.6%. This is the first year that Nghe An's merchandise exports have surpassed the 3 billion USD mark.

Several items saw double-digit export growth, including: electronic equipment and components (up 84.4%); electrical wires and cables (up 74.5%); footwear (up 88.1%); rice (up 75%); textiles (up 30.1%); and various types of steel sheets (up 29.2%).

Nghe An businesses have exported goods to over 142 countries and territories. Export turnover to some markets increased sharply compared to the same period last year, such as: Singapore (up 111.5%), Hong Kong (up 87.5%), Taiwan (up 68.4%), Japan (up 28.8%), South Korea (up 16.7%), Germany (up 47.7%),...

The significant increase in merchandise exports has contributed significantly to Nghe An's total export turnover reaching approximately 3.7 billion USD this year, exceeding the target of 3 billion USD set by the Provincial People's Council for the whole year.

Previously, in 2023, Nghe An's total export turnover exceeded 3 billion USD for the first time, reaching 3.105 billion USD; of which goods exports reached 2.444 billion USD.

In 2025, the Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Provincial People's Council a target of achieving a total export turnover of 4.5 billion USD; of which 4 billion USD will be for goods exports.

2024 marks the fourth consecutive year that Nghe An province has exceeded its export targets. Investment projects gradually coming into operation have strongly boosted the province's export turnover, especially in the field of electronic equipment and component manufacturing.

Forecasts indicate that in 2025, exports of electronic equipment and components from Nghe An will continue to increase significantly as a series of projects come into operation.

The People's Committee of Nghe An province recently requested relevant agencies to focus on supporting and accelerating the progress of registered investment projects, especially FDI projects in economic zones and industrial parks, to bring them into operation in 2025, such as: Sunny Automotive Quang Hoc Vina new facility investment project; Xinfeng Vietnam Technology factory; Gaojia Optics Technology Vietnam factory; All Top Industrial electronic component manufacturing project; Luxshare - ICT 2 project; Luxvisions Innovation Nghe An factory; and TopGoal Vietnam electronics manufacturing project.

The production of electronic devices and components is a rapidly growing sector in Nghe An's export portfolio recently, as a series of FDI projects from five major technology companies – Foxconn, Luxshare, Goertek, Everwin, and JuTeng – have chosen the province in the North Central region as their base, gradually transforming it into a new "capital" for electronic component manufacturing in Vietnam.

In 2022 and 2023, Nghe An attracted a total of nearly $2.5 billion in FDI, with over $1.6 billion coming in 2023 alone.

As of November 25th, 2024, Nghe An province had attracted a total investment of VND 44,789 billion; of which, foreign direct investment (FDI) alone reached USD 977.83 million, with a projected total FDI of USD 1.696 billion for the whole year.

To date, the province has 147 active FDI projects with a total registered capital of 5.1 billion USD.

Conversely, Nghe An's import turnover this year is estimated at 2.226 billion USD, an increase of 56.22% compared to the same period last year; exceeding the plan by 48.4%. Thus, Nghe An is currently experiencing a surplus in goods exports of nearly 1 billion USD.
