On November 2, 2017, Baonghean.vn published an article titled “4 hospitals in Nghe An with the highest ENT endoscopy costs in the country.” According to statistics from Vietnam Social Security, in the first 9 months of 2017, there were 2,106,134 ENT endoscopy procedures nationwide with a cost of 415 billion VND.
Of these, Nghe An has 4 medical examination and treatment facilities in the top 10 units with the highest costs in the country. Topping the list is the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital with a cost of over 8.1 billion VND; Vinh City General Hospital over 5.6 billion VND; Northwest Regional General Hospital over 5 billion VND; Cua Dong General Hospital over 3.3 billion VND.
Meanwhile, the cost for this service at the National Children's Hospital in 9 months is less than 200 million VND.
On November 15, 2017, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 8850/UBND-VX regarding the handling of the issue raised by Nghe An Newspaper.
Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong commented as follows: The Department of Health is in charge of investigating the issue raised by Nghe An Newspaper. If the Newspaper's reflection is correct, it is necessary to verify and clarify the cause of the high cost of ENT endoscopy at the above-mentioned Hospitals. Report to the Provincial People's Committee the processing results and send them to the Department of Information and Communications (for monitoring) before December 2, 2017. |
