Huge shipbuilding industry in Quynh Luu

(Baonghean.vn) - To meet the needs of offshore fishermen, many shipbuilding establishments in Quynh Luu district are actively operating and building new boats. Each year, the establishments build dozens of large ships, including the ND 67 ship for offshore fishing.

The shipbuilding industry in Tien Thuy commune is famous throughout the province and neighboring provinces. Among them, many large shipbuilding establishments such as Xinh Viet regularly build offshore fishing boats with a capacity of 800 CV or more.

Most of the shipyards in Quynh Luu can build offshore vessels. In 2016, Xinh Viet built two 67-class ships, ready to set sail, and two others are nearing completion.

Workers are installing equipment and machinery on the cockpit.

To build a wooden boat with a standard, high durability, the essential factor is the quality of the wood. The wood used to build the boat is gasoline, teak, and sen. Each boat with a capacity of 400 CV needs about 40 cubic meters of wood.

Mr. Ho Van Ngo - owner of Ngo Thuy shipbuilding facility in Quynh Nghia commune said that since the beginning of the year, the facility has built 3 offshore ships, each with a capacity of over 400 CV, worth 800 million VND. Currently, the facility is continuing to build 3 ships (1 ship with 520 CV, 2 ships with over 400 CV).

In Quynh Luu district, there are about 18 shipbuilding and ship repair establishments, including 10 large shipbuilding establishments in Quynh Nghia, Quynh Tho, Tien Thuy, An Hoa... creating jobs for hundreds of workers. Since the beginning of the year, the establishments have completed about 20 ships, including 6 wooden hulls built according to Decree 67.
