What is the highest paying job in Vietnam?
According to the 2015 Annual Report of Vietnamese Enterprises, recently released by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on April 13, the average income of workers has increased from 28 million VND in 2007 to 74.6 million VND in 2014.
According to VCCI, in 2015, the regional minimum wage increased by 14.3% and the plan for 2016 is to increase by 12.4% compared to 2015. Thus, this increase will help increase workers' income in the following years.

By economic sector, workers in the finance, banking and insurance sector had the highest average income in 2014, reaching 195 million VND per year. Next was the Information and Communications sector with 140 million VND per year.
Production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning has the highest revenue, but is the third industry with average income of 135 million VND/year.
The income of workers in the manufacturing industry reaches 68 million VND/year, higher than agriculture and construction.
Workers in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector have seen their income decrease from 70 million VND (in 2010) to 53 million VND/year. Other service activities are the sector with the lowest average income, reaching only 44 million VND/year.
Average revenue of employees increased about 2.5 times in the period 2007-2015, with an average rate of 12.1%/year, from about 482 million VND in 2007 to 1,207 million VND in 2015.
The period 2010-2015 witnessed a strong breakthrough in the average revenue of employees in state-owned enterprises. It is estimated that by 2015, the average revenue of employees in this sector will increase by about double compared to the non-state and FDI enterprises.
By business sector, the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector had the highest average revenue in 2014, reaching over VND4.27 billion/person/year. Next was the wholesale and retail and motorbike repair sector with a revenue of over VND3.1 billion/person/year.
The mining industry has the third highest per capita revenue with 2.18 billion VND/person/year. Next is the banking and finance industry with more than 2 billion VND/person/year.
Three other industries with average employee revenue of over VND1 billion/year are arts, entertainment and recreation; real estate business; and information and communications.
Notably, agriculture, forestry and fishery is the sector with the second lowest average revenue per capita, reaching 269 million VND/person/year, just above the administrative activities and support services sector with 267 million VND/year.
The banking and finance industry is often in the group with the highest average revenue and was at the top in 2008 and 2011. However, the average revenue in this industry has continuously decreased in 2012-2014.
