Artist Giang Coi is very optimistic, he only thinks he has a sore throat, not cancer. |
When he first discovered his illness, artist Giang Coi was optimistic: "Everything has an end, it doesn't last forever, my illness is the same, it will end. Whether the ending is happy or sad is another story. After going to the hospital, I will eventually leave, it's just a matter of whether I leave through the front door or the back door."
He also shared that he has no regrets or remorse if one day "God calls your name". "I think many people are only 27, 28 years old and have passed away. There are children who are only ten years old, have not done anything for their lives, have not felt life. There are children who have just been born and have not had a chance to be held before being abandoned on the street. I once picked up two abandoned children from the cemetery to bury them. Many children are very pitiful.

Knowing he was sick, artist Giang Coi still encouraged other cancer patients with artist Tra My. |
In my 60 years of life, I have worked for nearly 40 years. During that time, I did my best, when I felt weak, I went to school. When I had more free time, I taught people who wanted to learn the profession. I work with all my heart, I earn money to work, not work to earn money. So have you ever seen me advertise for anyone? I earn money to give my children knowledge, not wealth. I give them life skills and work ethics.
I always wake up at 4am and work hard. I still joke that compared to people who wake up late, I have lived a few more hours a day of my life than them. I have no regrets."
He also felt secure when he "closed his eyes and passed away" because his four children were all independent. "My children are very independent. If the worst case scenario is like me, they go to school in the morning and still earn money in the afternoon. The two older children have stable jobs. The other two are still in school, one daughter is very active, selling online and making good money. My 16-year-old son has welding, mechanical, and car repair skills... he can make a living anyway, so I can just relax," the male artist once shared.
