Comedian Xuan Bac becomes Ambassador for Rhino Protection
We need to stop killing rhinos for their horns before it's too late.
On September 20, in Hanoi, the Education for Nature (ENV) Center announced the results of a working visit to South Africa on the issue of transnational rhino horn trafficking.
The trip was attended by many journalists, artists, and some Vietnamese authorities, including comedian Xuan Bac.
At the press conference, comedian Xuan Bac shared: “We have seen with our own eyes the skeletons of dead rhinos, all that is left is skin and bones – the horns have been taken by poachers. We should not be fooled and should not waste money just because of greedy smugglers. We need to stop before it is too late for rhinos.”
Rhinos are killed for their horns in South Africa.
The growing demand for rhino horn is the main threat to South Africa’s rhinos. Vietnam is now considered one of the world’s largest markets for rhino horn, where many people still believe in the myths about its miraculous healing properties or see it as a way to show social status.
Since January, 635 South African rhinos have been poached for their horns, and nearly two-thirds of them were killed in Kruger National Park.
To increase propaganda about rhino protection, comedian Xuan Bac has also officially become the Rhino Protection Ambassador./.
