Husband suspected of burning wife to death with gasoline then committing suicide
Provincial police are coordinating with professional units to investigate the case of a husband allegedly dousing his wife in gasoline and burning her to death before committing suicide, causing a stir in local public opinion.
According to initial information, at around 2:00 p.m. on November 28, residents of Hamlet 6, Bai Duong Village, Nam Duong Commune, Nam Truc District were shocked to discover that part of the house of Tran Van Mien (45 years old) and Chu Thi Hao (40 years old) was on fire.

When the incident was discovered, people quickly shouted to each other to use buckets and basins to put out the fire. When the fire was extinguished, people discovered that Mr. Mien had died, and there was a smell of pesticide around him. After breaking the lock of the room door, they discovered that Ms. Hao had been burned to death.
Realizing the seriousness of the incident, the people reported it to the authorities. That same afternoon, Nam Truc District Police arrived to protect the scene and investigate the cause of the incident.
According to local people, Mr. Mien and Ms. Hao have two sons together. Mr. Mien just returned to the locality from working in China since last Tet.
Since moving home, Mr. Mien has been showing signs of “hallucinations” and has frequently threatened to kill his wife. Three days before the incident, Mr. Mien bought gasoline and intended to burn his wife alive, but was stopped in time by relatives.
The case is being further investigated by the authorities.
