The victims of the case were Ca Van Tim, 24 years old, from Nhap village, Chieng Lao, Muong La and Quang Van Chum, 26 years old, from Huoi Choi village, Chieng Lao, Muong La, who were injured in the waist and buttocks; Quang Van Dung, 24 years old, from Nhap village, Chieng Lao, died from being stabbed in the neck and left chest.

According to the initial statements of the victims, at around 6:00 p.m. on May 22, Lo Van Kim, currently staying in Vinh Khuc commune, Van Giang district, went to the rented room of Lo Van Toan, 25 years old, currently renting in Ban Yen Nhan town, My Hao district (from the same hometown) to visit.
Here, after eating and drinking, Kim got into a fight with some young men from his hometown because the young men suspected Kim of teasing his girlfriend in the same boarding house. Already under the influence of alcohol and a knife, Kim used a sharp knife to stab the victims repeatedly, causing 3 casualties.
