Suspect in the murder of 3 grandmother and grandchildren at night was arrested

A source from the Criminal Police Department (C02, Ministry of Public Security) said that late on April 24, Tran Trong Luan (34 years old) was arrested, suspected of murdering Ms. Dao Thi Thu Cuc (54 years old) with her daughter and 8-year-old grandchild in Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong.

"He lived near the victims' families. When he was arrested, he took poison to commit suicide. Initial investigations determined that he alone committed the crime due to a love conflict," the source said, adding that until 3 a.m. this morning, police were still examining the crime scene, the suspect's house, and many other places to collect evidence.

According to initial testimony, at around midnight on April 24, Luan brought prepared weapons including 3 knives and a machete and broke into Ms. Cuc's house by prying open the metal roof. Seeing Ms. Cuc wake up, Luan rushed in and slashed her to death, then continued to kill the other 2 people in the house.

After committing the crime, he returned home to take a shower, took the weapon to an empty lot about 500 meters from home, then returned home to take poison to commit suicide but did not die.

Earlier, on the morning of April 24, Mrs. Cuc and two relatives were found dead in a house in Tan Ba ​​hamlet, Thai Hoa ward (Tan Uyen town) with multiple stab wounds and furniture in disarray. Mrs. Cuc's body was in the bedroom, her youngest daughter was in the hallway, and her grandson collapsed dead at the side of the house.

Mrs. Cuc sells groceries. Her L-shaped house is located next to the Dong Nai River. The gate and iron fence are over 1.5 meters high. There are many houses around. Usually, there are quite a few construction workers from the nearby sandbank who come to buy things.

The Criminal Police Department immediately joined Binh Duong Police to investigate the case due to its particularly serious nature.

The investigation agency determined that the perpetrator had planned the crime in advance. He tied wire to the outside doors of many rented rooms near the victim's house. After killing Ms. Cuc and two relatives, the perpetrator locked the outside doors and hurriedly escaped without locking the gate. Some specimens and traces of the perpetrator were seized at the scene and an empty lot 500 meters away.
