Government Decree on the organizational structure of VNA

On August 1, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed and issued Decree No. 88/2013/ND-CP regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of Vietnam News Agency.

Accordingly, Vietnam News Agency is an agency under the Government, performing the function of State news agency in broadcasting information and official documents of the Party and State; providing information to serve the leadership requirements of the Party and management of the State; collecting and disseminating information through various forms of media, serving mass media agencies, the public and interested parties at home and abroad.

Vietnam News Agency has the task of unifying the distribution of official documents and information of the Party and State; collecting and compiling news, photos, audio-visual products, documents, books and other types of reference information to promptly serve the leadership requirements of the Party and the management of the State.

Vietnam News Agency has the task of publishing the official views of the State on current issues; correcting information that is not in line with national interests; correcting false information; when necessary, issuing statements to refute information with the intention of distorting. Collecting, compiling, publishing, disseminating and releasing information products to provide to mass media agencies, the public and interested parties at home and abroad; producing and broadcasting news television channels to serve the country's political tasks and essential information and propaganda.

Vietnam News Agency performs the foreign information tasks assigned by the Party and State, collects and disseminates information about Vietnam in different languages ​​to domestic agencies and organizations, foreign news agencies and press agencies, foreigners and overseas Vietnamese; performs the task of providing information and propaganda to ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in ethnic minority languages ​​and scripts; stores information materials; builds an information database and manages national photo materials; coordinates with relevant agencies to perform information tasks serving national defense and security work; carries out international cooperation in areas within the functions, tasks and powers of Vietnam News Agency according to the provisions of law...

According to the Decree, Vietnam News Agency has 5 units assisting the General Director of Vietnam News Agency, including: Editorial Secretariat; Personnel Organization Department; Office; Planning-Finance Department; Inspection Department.

In addition, Vietnam News Agency has 21 information units: 1- Domestic News Editorial Board; 2- World News Editorial Board; 3- Foreign News Editorial Board; 4- Photo Editorial Board; 5- Economic News Editorial Board; 6- News Agency Television Center; 7- Information-Documentation Center; 8- Tin Tuc Newspaper; 9- VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper; 10- Vietnam News Newspaper; 11- Vietnam Pictorial Newspaper; 12- Le Courrier du Vietnam Newspaper; 13- Sports and Culture Newspaper; 14- Ethnic and Mountainous Region Pictorial Newspaper; 15- Science and Technology Newsletter; 16- Vietnam Law and Legal Forum Magazine; 17- News Agency Publishing House; 18- Vietnam News Agency Southern Region; 19- Vietnam News Agency Central-Central Highlands Region; 20- Vietnam News Agency's resident offices in provinces and centrally-run cities; 21- Vietnam News Agency's resident offices abroad.

The information service units of Vietnam News Agency include the News Agency Technical Center; News Agency Professional Training Center; News Agency Media Development Center; Information Technology Center; and News Agency International Cooperation Center.

Vietnam News Agency has a Director General and no more than 4 Deputy Directors General. The Director General of Vietnam News Agency is appointed and dismissed by the Prime Minister and is responsible to the Government and the Prime Minister for all activities of Vietnam News Agency.

This Decree takes effect from September 15, 2013. This Decree replaces Decree No. 24/2008/ND-CP dated March 3, 2008 of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, structure and organization of Vietnam News Agency; annuls previous regulations contrary to this Decree.
