Nghi Loc: Handing over gratitude houses to disabled navy soldiers

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, on the morning of July 11, at Nam Thinh hamlet, Nghi Thiet commune, (Nghi Loc), the Navy Command of Region 1 and the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district held the inauguration and handover of a gratitude house to war invalid and naval commando Nguyen Xuan Hoat.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Naval Region 1 Command, officers and soldiers of Squadron 137; representatives of the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district, Nghi Thiet commune, the Liaison Committee of the Ship Without Numbers and the Liaison Committee of Veterans of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoat, born in 1950, hometown in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc; enlisted and was a Navy commando, fought from 1969 to 1975; had excellent achievements, was wounded many times and is a 4/4 disabled veteran. His family's circumstances were difficult, and he could not afford to build a new house.

Promoting the spirit of "mutual love", the Navy Command of Region 1 launched a fundraising campaign and mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district to support the family of war invalid Nguyen Xuan Hoat to build a house.

The house of gratitude handed over to the family of war invalid Nguyen Xuan Hoat is designed with two floors, worth about 200 million VND, of which, the Navy Command of Region 1 supported 70 million VND, Nghi Loc District People's Committee supported 30 million VND; the rest was invested by the family.

The house started construction in April 2017, after 3 months of construction it was basically completed and put into use.

On this occasion, in addition to the support of 30 million VND from the Nghi Loc District People's Committee, representatives of Squadron 137 stationed in Phuc Tho Commune, Nghi Loc, the Liaison Committee of Nghe Tinh Navy Veterans and the Liaison Committee of the Ship Without Number presented souvenirs to the family of war invalid Nguyen Xuan Hoat.

On average, each year, the Naval Region 1 Command raises about 2 billion VND to organize social activities. This is the first house donation in 2017 by the Naval Region 1 Command to show gratitude to veterans and wounded soldiers of the force./.
