Nghi Loc: 40 new ships built, worth nearly 40 billion VND.
(Baonghean.vn) -In the first quarter of 2013, despite difficult economic conditions, Trung Kien Shipbuilding Cooperative (Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district) signed additional contracts to build 40 new vessels with capacities ranging from 90 to 650 horsepower, totaling nearly 40 billion VND.
To meet customer demand, in April 2013, Trung Kien Shipbuilding Cooperative opened two new production facilities, bringing the total number to 12 specializing in shipbuilding. Currently, the raw materials have been fully prepared to meet production needs and ensure employment for 200 cooperative members from now until the end of the year.

New ship launched.
According to the head of the Trung Kien shipbuilding cooperative, they expect to secure 20 more shipbuilding contracts by the end of the year, bringing the total number of new ships built this year to 60. Currently, there is plenty of work but a shortage of shipbuilding labor. The cooperative's plan for 2013 aimed for a 20% increase in production value, but with positive results from the first quarter, the projected increase for the whole year is expected to reach 30%. This is also the most successful year in recent years. This achievement is thanks to the government's policy of encouraging fishermen to build larger ships for offshore fishing.
The Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Nghi Loc District facilitated a loan for Trung Kien Cooperative to overcome initial difficulties, contributing to the cooperative's investment in improving production capacity.
