"We sold the first melons of the season for 15,000 - 17,000 VND/kg (2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg higher than last year). The melon is a short-term variety, easy to grow, and gives much higher profits than other vegetables; the average yield is 8-10 quintals/sao, if well cared for it can reach 1.2 quintals/sao" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao shared.

Mr. Nguyen Tu Ngoc - Vice Chairman of Nghi Long Commune People's Committee said that this summer-autumn crop, she planted 40 hectares of melons, concentrated in hamlets 3, 4, 12, 13. Currently, there are 10 hectares of early summer-autumn melons for harvest. The melons are grown with little chemical fertilizer, mainly using microbial fertilizers to ensure safety.

It is known that Nghi Lo district this crop produced more than 85 hectares of melons and watermelons. Of which, there are 15 hectares of early summer-autumn melons in the two communes of Nghi Long and Nghi Thach that people are concentrating on harvesting.
