In 2014, despite many difficulties, thanks to the synchronized implementation of various measures, forest protection and fire prevention and control work in Nghi Loc district achieved many remarkable results.
The entire district has established 16 fire prevention and control committees at all levels. Comprehensive public awareness campaigns have been implemented from the district level to the grassroots. Emphasis has been placed on handling flammable materials and constructing, maintaining, and repairing firebreaks.
Last year, the entire district maintained and repaired 99.8km of firebreaks. Nearly 4000 hectares of combustible materials were pre-burned. Forest fire patrols and monitoring of fire-related activities and people entering and leaving the forest were carried out regularly.
Efforts to combat illegal deforestation and manage forest products have been implemented effectively. However, six forest fires still occurred in the area during the year. Of these, three fires caused damage to forest resources, with a total damaged area of 16.25 hectares.
In 2015, the District People's Committee identified forest fire prevention and control as a key task in forest protection. They focused intensely on advising, directing, and leading decisively, organizing and implementing measures seriously throughout the dry season, striving to minimize the number of fires and outbreaks of forest diseases and pests, thereby contributing to the protection of forest resources.
On this occasion, 4 collectives and 3 individuals were awarded certificates of commendation by the Chairman of the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in forest protection and fire prevention and control in 2014.
