(Baonghean.vn) - Having a serious illness isorbital tumor and retinal detachment for over a year now, monthly radiation therapy until hair loss, but INguyen Thi Hoai Thuong, a 6A student at Nghi Duc Secondary School, is still eager to learn and achieves high results.

Hoai Thuong is the second child of Nguyen Hong Thang and Pham Thi Lan in Huong Tin hamlet, Nghi Duc commune (Vinh city).

DIn early 2015, the child occasionally complained of headaches, accompanied by poor vision and misaligned eyes. At first, the couple thought the child just had a cold, but when the pain became more and more severe, they took him to the doctor. Because the disease was strange and difficult to detect, it took nearly half a year, and many hospitals, from the province to the central level, to conclude that the child had orbital tumor and retinal disease.

Outside of class, Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong's only joy is studying from books.

Accordingly, to control the tumor, Thuong had to undergo 29 radiation treatments, including 12 attack radiation treatments and 17 maintenance radiation treatments.

Ms. Pham Thi Lan - Hoai Thuong's mother said: the surgery is just the beginning of the treatment regimen, the most important stage is radiation therapy. Up to now, after nearly 3 months, she has had 10/12 radiation sessions, the pain has gradually decreased but the family is anxiously waiting for the treatment results.

Despite her poor health due to many treatments, Hoai Thuong is very studious, her favorite subject is Math. Every week she goes to the hospital in Hanoi for radiation therapy, but when she returns home she goes to school immediately. Her teachers and parents are concerned about her health, but because of her desire to go to school, they have to indulge her. Hoai Thuong said: being able to go to school, being able to go to school and play with friends makes me feel less pain...

Thuong's already small body is now even thinner, due to the radiation treatments her hair has fallen out a lot.

During her years in primary school, Hoai Thuong was one of the students with good academic performance, being continuously an advanced student. Now in secondary school, despite having a terrible disease, Hoai Thuong is very studious and studies well in all subjects.

Teacher Pham Kim Thanh - homeroom teacher of class 6A said: Hoai Thuong is a student with very special circumstances, despite her illness, the precious thing is that she is very eager to learn and absorbs lessons quickly. For nearly 3 months now, every week she has had to miss school to go for radiotherapy, everyone knows that radiotherapy will be tiring, but to keep up with her studies, when she gets home on time, Thuong goes to school right away. Hoai Thuong is an example of overcoming difficulties for her classmates and grade to follow.

During 5 years of primary school, Hoai Thuong was always an excellent student.

To treat Hoai Thuong, the average cost is nearly 18 million/month, and more than 4 million/week. Due to the family's circumstances, the father is a construction worker and the mother raises livestock and grows crops at home, so the income is not worth much. Currently, with the health insurance payment system for students, Hoai Thuong is only supported to pay 80% of the examination fee, the remaining medicine is quite expensive and must be self-funded, so the treatment cost is quite expensive. After only treating his child for more than a year, Thang's family's finances have been exhausted; currently, to treat his child every month, he and his wife have had to borrow tens of millions of dong from relatives.
