Suspect of BIDV bank robbery in Hue arrested

The suspect who robbed over 700 million VND at BIDV Thanh Noi transaction office (29 Mai Thuc Loan, Hue City, Thua Thien - Hue) has been arrested.

On the afternoon of December 18, the Southern Criminal Police Department (C45B, Ministry of Public Security) arrested Nguyen Hoai Tam (29 years old, permanent residence in Dak Nong) - the suspect who used a gas gun to rob the BIDV Bank branch on Mai Thuc Loan Street (Hue) more than 10 days ago.

According to authorities, suspect Tam was arrested at a market in Da Nang, appearing calm. In his initial confession, Tam said that due to lack of money, he bought a motorbike from an online seller and planned the crime for a few days. He bought a new motorbike to avoid detection.

On the afternoon of December 6, Tam brought a gun to a branch of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in Hue City. He wore gloves, a mask, a helmet, a black jacket... and pointed the gun at the cashier and security guard, demanding that they put money on the counter. After asking everyone to stand still, he pointed the gun at them and threatened them while taking stacks of money and putting them in his pocket, totaling 725 million VND.

As Tam ran away, the alarm went off. A man chased the suspect but failed, he escaped on a motorbike into the crowd.

After the attack and robbery at the BIDV Thanh Noi bank transaction office, determining that the incident was serious and affected social security and order, C45 immediately coordinated with local police to search for the subject.
