Afternoon of February 12,Truong Manh Tuan, the suspect who caused the death of his father and seriously injured his mother and sister, is still being treated at Nghi Loc District General Hospital under strict police protection. At the time of the crime, Tuan was the deputy manager of a Vietinbank branch.

Previously, on the evening of February 10 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), Nghi Loc District Police received a report of a murder at the house of Mr. Truong Canh H. (Xuan Son hamlet, Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district).

When Nghi Loc District Police officers arrived at Mr. H’s home, he was dead with multiple injuries caused by sharp objects. Mr. H’s wife and daughter were also seriously injured and in a state of panic.

Verifying information at the scene, many people said that when they heard a loud scream, they immediately ran to Mr. H's house and saw Truong Manh Tuan (born in 1987, Mr. H's eldest son) running out of the house, holding a bloody knife in his hand and waving it around. Seeing many people coming, Tuan quickly ran to the car and drove away.

Nghi Loc District Police organized to take the injured to the emergency room and protect the scene to serve the investigation. Concluding that Tuan could be the suspect in the murder of his father and the serious injury of his mother and younger sister, Nghi Loc District Police organized a manhunt.

However, it is necessary to clarify which direction Tuan drove. At that time, passersby said that at around 11pm, they saw a car speeding towards Nam Cam Industrial Park.

The police determined that the car might belong to Truong Manh Tuan, so they "dispatched" nearly 70 officers and soldiers of the district police and police of Nghi Thach, Nghi Xa, Nghi Long communes... to search for it.

When arriving at Nam Cam Industrial Park, traces of the car Tuan was driving were still not discovered. At this time, information provided by local people said that on the road from Cua Lo to Nam Cam Industrial Park, in Nghi Quang commune, there was a car that crashed into a lamppost, was stopped on the side of the road, and no one was driving it.

At the scene, the police determined that the car belonged to Tuan. On the ground, Tuan’s clothes were scattered, and a few meters away was a knife still covered in blood.

Realizing that Tuan could not have run far, the police cordoned off the area around Nam Cam Industrial Park. However, there are many routes in the industrial park so the search was not simple.

“A security guard at a company in the industrial park said that at around 2am, he saw a naked man running towards the Nam Cam Industrial Park. Following the direction the security guard pointed, we met a night duck herder. This person said that a naked man ran towards the Nam Cam river bank and jumped into the water, swimming to the other side,” said an investigator from Nghi Loc district police.

The officers and soldiers crossed the river, then searched all over the fields of Nghi Xa commune. At around 4am, the police found Truong Manh Tuan hiding in a field in Hamlet 5, Nghi Xa commune. At the time of discovery, Tuan was naked, his stomach was bleeding, and he was curled up.

Fearing that the subject would act rashly and continue to act out of control, the police had to persuade and calm Tuan down. Seeing the police, Tuan cowered and trembled, continuously screaming for death.

The police had to encourage and persuade him, and when Tuan was distracted, they successfully controlled him. Tuan was then taken to the hospital for emergency treatment and treatment of his injuries.

At Nghi Loc District General Hospital, Tuan was confirmed to have been punctured by a sharp object, with his intestinal membrane protruding. In addition, Tuan had several lacerations on his head and was mentally unstable. The hospital performed emergency surgery and then transferred him to the Department of Surgery for treatment.

After regaining consciousness, Tuan initially confessed to the investigation agency that after committing the crime, he received an “order” to get in the car and drive away. When the car crashed into a lamppost on the side of the road, Tuan quickly jumped out, as if he saw someone chasing him, so he swung the knife around wildly and then threw the knife away.

Tuan felt hot inside so he took off all his clothes, jumped into the river to bathe and swam to the other side. After getting into the cold water, Tuan gradually regained consciousness, remembering that he had just slashed his father, mother and sister. Feeling too miserable and regretful for his actions, Tuan climbed up high and threw himself down on the barbed wire fence of a nearby company in an attempt to commit suicide, but because his body was heavy, he was bounced to the ground, the iron hook of the barbed wire hooked into his stomach, causing injury.

Tuan also admitted to the police that he used a type of hallucinogenic weed four days ago while singing karaoke with his classmates. Before the crime, Tuan did not use any stimulants.

The case is under further investigation.
