The suspect who stabbed a police officer to steal a motorcycle has been arrested.

On the evening of March 1st, the Le Chan District Police (Hai Phong Police) in coordination with the Criminal Police Department arrested Vu Thanh Son (Son "Lien Xo", 51 years old) - the suspect who allegedly attacked Lieutenant Vu The Thang with a knife in an attempt to rob him of his property.

At approximately 5:30 PM on March 1st, more than 10 plainclothes detectives unexpectedly approached house number 43/25/199 To Hieu Street, Le Chan District. However, they were unable to enter because the door was locked. After unsuccessful attempts to persuade those inside to open the door and surrender, the special forces broke the lock and stormed in to apprehend Son.

The arrest of Son "Soviet Union" was swift and efficient; he offered no resistance. Authorities did not find any weapons at the scene. Currently, Son is being held at the headquarters of the Criminal Police Department of the Hai Phong Public Security Bureau.

The house where Son was hiding was about 2 meters wide and less than 10 meters long, located deep in a poor working-class neighborhood in Du Hang ward, Le Chan district. Son was reportedly acquainted with the owner of the house – a 57-year-old man who was frequently drunk – and had only been staying there for a few days.

On the afternoon of February 26th, news spread that Son "Soviet Union" had gone to residential area 11, An Duong ward, to meet with some former accomplices with criminal records. Hundreds of Hai Phong criminal police officers tightened the cordon but could not find him.

According to the investigation, in the early morning of February 24th, Son "Lien Xo" and an accomplice attacked Vu The Thang (30 years old, Team 1, Hai Phong Traffic Police Department) with an axe, striking him three times on the head before stealing his Air Blade motorbike. Later that afternoon, the motorbike was found near Ong Bao Lake, and Thang's bag containing his belongings was also recovered from a ditch.

Lieutenant Thang is still receiving treatment at the hospital.
