On the morning of April 14, Japanese police arrested a 46-year-old man named Shibuya Yasumasa on suspicion of being involved in the murder of Le Thi Nhat Linh. The suspect lived just 300 meters from Linh's house and was one of the volunteers who monitored Linh's way to school.

Suspect Shibuya Yasumasa left his home at 7:47 a.m. on April 14, before being surrounded and arrested by police.

Shibuya Yasumasa is an enthusiastic social worker and was elected by the neighborhood as the President of the Parents' Association. This is a guardian association tasked with watching over and protecting elementary school children on their way to school.

According to information from the official press conference of the police department, on the night of March 24, when Linh's family reported that she was missing on her way to school, Yasumasa and local residents split up to search in many neighboring areas. The suspect also enthusiastically took responsibility for waving a flag to signal people.

Afterwards, Shibuya Yasumasa proved himself to be a good neighbor by calling on people to donate to help the family bring Linh's body back to Vietnam for burial.

The following days, the suspect continued to work as a supervisor every morning. This man also has a child attending the same school as Linh.

Clues from the car tracks left at the scene and some dash cams helped investigators identify the suspect. Shibuya Yasumasa’s DNA matched the DNA found on the girl’s body.

Police had been ambushing the suspect's apartment since early morning on April 14. At 7am, Yasumasa opened the door of his apartment on the 4th floor to go out. Realizing that he was being surrounded, the man escaped down the stairs to the 1st floor. However, the security guards who were ambushing him split into two directions and captured Yasumasa in the parking lot. When he was led into the car, Shibuya Yasumasa did not resist.
