Suspect in murder of single man arrested
Using a bicycle brake cable to strangle the victim, Noi stole a set of wooden furniture in the house.
On February 2, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police arrested suspect Pham Van Noi (35 years old, Tien Loc commune, Hau Loc district) to investigate the act of murder and robbery. This man is accused of murdering Mr. Lang Xuan Ham (58 years old).
Noi confessed that at around 9am on January 30, he went to Mr. Ham's house to visit. Seeing him sitting alone drinking, he tried to stop him but was scolded by the homeowner.

A fight broke out between the two sides. Noi took a piece of bicycle brake cable and threw it on the porch (about 80 cm long) and then went into the house, put it into a noose and strangled Mr. Ham. When the victim stopped breathing, Noi dragged the body into the room, closed the door, and removed the brake cable and threw it into the abandoned house next door.
While dragging Mr. Ham's body from the house into the room, he discovered three wooden boards leaning against the wall, so Noi became greedy. He called a resident in Hoang Hoa district to sell them for 8 million VND for personal use.
Two days ago, a relative came to Mr. Ham's house and discovered the homeowner's body, so he reported it to the authorities.
Police noted deep marks on the victim’s neck and disturbed belongings. Traces at the scene showed that the homeowner had struggled and resisted before being murdered. According to local authorities, his wife and children worked in the South, so Mr. Ham lived alone.
