European MEP: The loser after the Helsinki summit is the EU
The Russian-American summit in Helsinki was a positive one aimed at strengthening communication between the two powers, the EU is the biggest loser in this situation, because it did not make such dialogue efforts, European Parliament member Bruno Gollnisch said.

"I think the meeting was positive, because as everyone says, there is always a chance to start understanding each other," - said Bruno Gollnisch, commenting on the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"I think that in this situation, the biggest loser is the EU, which is not present at such negotiations. The EU could have taken some actions on its own to start a dialogue to de-escalate tensions, but instead it has maintained an outdated position," said Bruno Gollnisch, adding that "Trump is a pragmatist, a realist, he defends US interests, not EU interests."
