US Congressman's nude photos leaked

Texas Congressman Joe Barton has apologized for leaking nude photos and suggestive text messages, but says he has no intention of resigning over them.

The Republican politician admitted on November 22 that nude photos circulating online were of him, adding that they were taken in recent years when he split from his second wife.

DailyMail quoted the 68-year-old congressman as saying: "When I separated from my second wife, before the official divorce, I had sexual relations with a number of women. Those relationships have ended. I apologize for letting down those who trusted me."

Nude photos of Congressman Joe Barton surfaced online this week when an anonymous Twitter user, Parker21333, posted them. The user also posted screenshots of explicit messages Barton had sent.

It is not clear whether Parker21333 received the above messages from Mr. Barton or not, but this person said that he had been harassed by the congressman.

Congressman Barton married his second wife, Terri, in 2004 and divorced her in 2006. He was previously married to Janet Sue Winslow, and the marriage lasted from 1970 to 2003. Mr. Barton has four children and five grandchildren.

The congressman's spokesman said he had no intention of resigning over the leaked photo.

Mr. Barton became a member of the House of Representatives in 1985 and is currently the longest-serving member of Congress from Texas. He is vice chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
