Russian MP: Su-57 could become a factor of restraint and deterrence in Syria
The appearance of Su-57 in Syria could be a deterrent to aircraft of neighboring countries that regularly perform flights over the country's territory, Chairman of the Committee for Legal Support for the Development of the Russian Federation's Defense Industry Bodies in the State Duma Vladimir Gutenev told Sputnik.

He welcomed any information about the appearance of new fighter jets in Syria. In the opinion of the Russian MP: "The appearance of new aircraft in Syria is absolutely the right step. It is important to test them in combat conditions, in response conditions."
Mr. Gutenev believes that the appearance of the latest Russian fighter jets in Syria will be a factor of restraint and deterrence "for aircraft of neighboring countries, which often carry out flights" over Syrian territory.
Previously, some media reported that at the Hmeymim base of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), two more fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets appeared.
The two fighters are currently undergoing flight testing and have not yet entered service with the Russian Federation Armed Forces.
