Russian MP Suleiman Kerimov arrested by French police

TTXVN/Reuters reported that a member of the Russian Federation Council (Senate), businessman Suleyman Kerimov, was arrested by French police in the southern city of Nice.

TASS news agency on November 21 quoted a source from the Russian Embassy in France as saying: "Mr. Suleyman Kerimov was arrested on the evening of November 20 at Nice airport and taken to the police station."

Meanwhile, an official from the French prosecutor's office said he was arrested in connection with a tax evasion case.

The Russian Embassy is actively supporting Senator Kerimov and is in regular contact with the authorities to resolve the case./.
