Newly elected Verkhovna Rada deputy from the pro-presidential party "Servant of the People", Bogdan Yaremenko, proposed to initiate criminal proceedings for negotiations with Russia.

According to the future lawmaker, responsibility for negotiations with Moscow should fall on those who are not officially authorized for such actions.

Although the party supports reducing state influence in various areas of public life, foreign policy and defense should be fully controlled by the government, Yaremenko noted.

He added that he was not sure about the support of his party members from the same party; however, during his time in the Verkhovna Rada, he would put forward a proposal to amend the country's criminal code.

“The country is at war. We have to put things in order,” he explained his stance.

The Ukrainian parliamentary elections were held earlier, on July 21. After processing 100% of the votes, Mr. Zelensky's "Servant of the People" party will be able to become the majority party, by receiving 254 out of 450 seats.
