Quitting his job, the 'talented' doctor compensated the province 655 million VND

A doctor in Quang Nam province, who is part of the province's talent attraction policy, must pay 655 million VND in compensation for unilaterally terminating his contract and quitting his job at a hospital in the province.

Quang Nam General Hospital said it has just processed the resignation of doctor PXK (26 years old), working in the hospital's surgical anesthesia department.

Because Dr. K. submitted a resignation letter, unilaterally terminated his contract with the province and broke his commitment to the hospital, he had to compensate the province 597 million VND and the hospital 58 million VND.

Previously in 2014, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province issued a decision on policies to attract talents to work at public health facilities in the province.

The policy is applied to doctors who graduated from regular universities at Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Accordingly, excellent doctors will receive 250 million VND, good doctors 230 million VND, average doctors, and good doctors will receive 200 million VND.

Masters and CK1 doctors will receive 300 million VND, resident doctors and CK2 doctors 350 million VND and PhDs 500 million VND.

In addition, the "talents" also received 100 million VND in support to buy land to build houses.

In 2016, Dr. K. worked at Quang Nam General Hospital according to the decision and signed a contract with the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Nam to work at this hospital for 12 years.

This doctor received a support amount from the province according to policy of 350 million VND (250 million is the incentive for graduating from university with honors and 100 million is support for buying land to build a house).

Dr. K. was also sent by the hospital to study surgical anesthesia in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the contract, if the doctor violates the commitment, he will have to pay double compensation.

Therefore, by unilaterally terminating the contract, Dr. K. had to compensate the above amount of 655 million.

Currently, doctor PXK has transferred 597 million VND to the provincial budget.
