Nghia Dan: Congress of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans

Currently, the whole Nghia Dan district has 1,304 disabled people, of which 260 are severely disabled and cannot take care of themselves and are receiving monthly social protection allowances in the community; more than 887 are war invalids and sick soldiers. Every year, the state budget pays about 38 billion VND in subsidies to these subjects. There are 2,621 children living in poor households, 507 children in especially difficult circumstances, 136 orphans with no place to rely on. There are 332 children with disabilities. In recent years, the work of caring for and helping disabled people and orphans in the area has received attention from Party committees at all levels, authorities, organizations, branches and unions, philanthropists and the sharing of the community, so that they can integrate into the community, overcome difficulties, rise up and gradually become independent and self-reliant in life. From 2010 to 2014, the Children's Support Fund and the Disabled Children's Fund have raised more than 3 billion VND in propaganda and mobilization. In addition, they have called on businesses and philanthropists to raise more than 1.5 billion VND, performing surgeries for 81 disabled children worth more than 1.2 billion VND. Other activities such as classification examination, surgical support, wheelchair provision, and organizing visits on holidays... have been promoted.
In the coming term, the Association will effectively implement communication and education programs to raise social awareness and the Law on People with Disabilities and Orphans, call for and honor collectives and individuals with many contributions, provide consulting on preferential credit loans for poor members, perform surgery and rehabilitation for beneficiaries, grant scholarships and practical gifts...
At the Congress, the Executive Committee of the District Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans, term 2014 - 2019, consisting of 19 members, was elected. On this occasion, the Association also presented gifts to the disabled and orphans in the area.
