Winter corn on Lam River alluvial soil reaches a yield of 5 tons/ha.
(Baonghean.vn) - Farmers in Anh Son district are harvesting winter corn on alluvial land. Despite some difficulties at the beginning of the season due to the weather, winter corn still achieved a yield of 5 tons/ha.

Like many other farming households in the commune, Nguyen Thi Thanh's family in village 8, Hoi Son commune, focused their manpower on harvesting winter corn. The entire corn field in the Song Lam area was bustling with people harvesting corn.
Ms. Thanh excitedly said: “This winter crop, my family planted 2 sao of corn variety B265. This is the first year my family has planted this corn variety. After harvesting, Ms. Thanh said that the corn was very good, with large, long ears and an estimated yield of 2.5-3 quintals/sao. Especially when harvested, the leaves are still green and can be used as food for cattle.

Ms. Ngo Thi Kha in village 2, Hoi Son commune happily shared: This year the weather is not very favorable due to severe cold at the beginning of the season, but thanks to sowing according to the schedule directed by the commune, during the planting process, focusing on care and disease prevention, my family's corn has achieved quite well, with an area of 3 sao of my family, I estimate that I have nearly 900 kg of corn kernels, with this winter crop, I have achieved a good yield."
Hoi Son is a locality with a large winter corn area in Anh Son district, with more than 120 hectares. Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: To achieve high productivity in this year's winter crop, the commune has directed people to choose short-term corn varieties that can withstand cold such as B265; DK 6919; B.06 for mass planting. Through the results of field surveys, the estimated yield is 50-55 quintals/ha. This result makes people very excited to start preparing conditions for corn production next spring crop.

According toAccording to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Anh Son district, up to now, the whole district has harvested about 40% of the winter corn area in the communes of Cam Son, Hoi Son, Phuc Son, and Duc Son.
With over 3,200 hectares, an average yield of 5 tons/ha, this winter crop, Anh Son people harvested over 16,000 tons of corn. In addition to selling for money to reproduce, this result has contributed to ensuring food security and is a source of food for livestock and poultry.
Along with harvesting winter corn, Anh Son people also plant corn and spring crops when the soil is still moist enough at the beginning of the season and especially avoid the sun and drought at the flagging and silking stages, contributing to increasing the value of goods per unit area.
