Ngo Thanh Van feels honored to act in the blockbuster 'Star Wars'

The beauty feels proud but faces a lot of pressure when participating in the new part of the classic series.

The press conference to introduce the movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi was held in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of November 29. The event had the participation of actress Ngo Thanh Van and Vietnamese-American actress Kelly Marie Tran. In the movie, they play two sisters who are skilled in fighting and using guns.

Sharing about the role, Ngo Thanh Van said that at first she had to work with the film crew through a representative company in the US. To be selected to participate, she had to go through many rounds of interviews, surpassing many candidates. The "action girl" did not believe she would be selected because it is very rare for Asians to appear in a classic blockbuster.

"As a film producer, over the years, I have come into contact with many talented Vietnamese people, from actors, directors to screenwriters. With Kelly and my roles in Star Wars, we hope to make a splash so the world can see that Vietnamese people can also do many great things," she shared.

In the film, Kelly Marie Tran plays Rose Tico, Paige's younger sister (played by Ngo Thanh Van). She said she had played many small roles in TV shows, commercials... This role was a turning point in her career, because she came from a family that did not pursue acting. "I want to instill the belief that if you truly love something, you can still achieve your dream. Now sitting here, I still can't believe I got to act in Star Wars," she shared.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, continues the story of the previous part, when the Resistance is winning the confrontation with the First Order. The heroine Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) arrives on the strange planet Ahch-To and has the opportunity to learn from the warrior Luke Skywalker. This Jedi master teaches Rey how to use the Force. At this time, Supreme Commander Snoke of the First Order begins a purge, striking down the core members of the Resistance. The film will be released in theaters in Vietnam from December 15.
