Besides football, Nghe An has 5 athletes participating in SEA Games 32
(Baonghean.vn) - In the list of Nghe An athletes, weightlifter Pham Thi Hong Thanh is absent, even though she was the champion of the previous SEA Games 30 and 31.
The 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) in 2023 will take place from May 6 to 17 in Cambodia. There will be 11 teams of athletes from 11 countries competing in 37 sports.
The Vietnamese delegation to the 32nd SEA Games has more than 1,000 athletes, competing in 30 sports with 444 events. By April 27, in addition to the two sports of men's and women's football, the remaining sports have finalized the official list of participating athletes and coaches.

Among them are 5 athletes from Nghe An, including: Kha Thanh Truc (athletics), Nguyen Viet Ngoc Hiep (karatedo), Bui Duy Chi Thanh (kickboxing),Nguyen Trong Dung(diving) and Nguyen Thi My (badminton).

In men's football, Nghe An has 3 players on the shortlist of the U22 team, including: Cao Van Binh, Ho Van Cuong and Dinh Xuan Tien. Coach Philippe Troussier is expected to finalize the official list of 20 U22 players for the 32nd SEA Games tomorrow (April 28).

The reason is that in May, in addition to the 32nd SEA Games, the Asian Weightlifting Federation will organize the 2023 Asian Championship in Korea, which is part of the scoring system for the 2024 Paris (France) Olympic qualification. Therefore, Vietnamese weightlifters must divide their forces to simultaneously participate in the 32nd SEA Games and the 2023 Asian Championship.
Pham Thi Hong Thanh is a member of the Vietnamese weightlifting team competing in the 2023 Asian Championship, so she will be absent in Cambodia and the 32nd SEA Games.
