Following Arsenal's signing of Valencia's Mustafi on 30 August, the Premier League's summer spending has topped £1bn. The figure is set to rise until 1 September, when the transfer window closes in England.
Previously, with Man City buying Claudio Bravo, the Premier League broke its own record by reaching 880 million pounds. The previous record was 870 million pounds in the summer of 2015.

This summer is also the fourth consecutive summer that the Premier League has set a transfer record for a single league.
Of the 20 Premier League clubs, 12 have already spent more money than ever before this summer. That number could increase as they try to sign more players, or get bargains on deadline day.The most expensive deal this summer also belongs to the Premier League: Man Utd bought Paul Pogba for 100 million pounds. This is also a new world record, surpassing the old record of Real Madrid recruiting Gareth Bale in 2013.
