Foreign Minister Lavrov: The West wants to adopt Mr. Zelensky's 'peace formula'
(Baonghean.vn) - Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that the West wants to hold a meeting on the Ukraine issue in Switzerland, to adopt Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's "peace formula" as a final, irreplaceable option.

The West wants to hold a meeting in Switzerland on the Ukraine issue without Russia's participation, RIA Novosti news agency reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. Through that meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's "peace formula" would be presented as a final and irreversible option.
"The West has the idea of holding another meeting in Switzerland, without inviting us, and at this meeting to complete the revision of the entire "peace formula" of Mr. Zelensky, presenting it as a final, irrevocable and unchangeable option. Then they will call us and hand over the formula. As Mr. Zelensky told us, it will be handed over, but not for negotiations. They are "serious people" - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the program "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" on the Russia-1 TV channel.
Foreign Minister Lavrov affirmed that he would not discuss President Zelensky's "ultimatum".
"I find it strange that Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis has fallen for this 'bait'. Now, he has begun to 'push' Zelensky's formula. Although, earlier at the UN Security Council meeting, I spoke directly to Mr. Cassis, and said that the formula is a 'dummy', and it would be a waste of time to care about it," Foreign Minister Lavrov shared.
In addition, answering a question about NATO's plans, Foreign Minister Lavrov said he knew nothing about those plans. Mr. Lavrov said that NATO countries are "cunning".
Earlier, Swiss President Viola Amherd said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had requested a peace summit on Ukraine. On March 13, the official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova confirmed that Moscow had no intention of participating in the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, even if officially invited. Maria Zakharova said that Switzerland's potential as an "honest mediator" in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict had been exhausted.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a meeting with Swiss Foreign Minister Cassis in January, stressed that when building bilateral relations, Moscow must take into account Bern's departure from the principles of neutrality and support for Kiev./.
