US Secretary of State congratulates Vietnam National Day

US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed his impression of Vietnam's development speed and wished to continue promoting bilateral relations in the coming time.

In the statement congratulating the 71st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, Mr. Kerry reiteratedhonored to accompany President Barack Obama to Vietnam in May.This is his third visit as foreign minister and he is always impressed to witness the remarkable development in relations between the two countries.

"From my first visit to Vietnam as a young soldier in 1968 to my most recent visit in May, I have witnessed the incredible changes taking place, from the city's skyscrapers to the burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit, the flow of people, goods and ideas from every corner of Vietnam.Americaand elsewhere," he said.Amidst these changes, what remains constant and makes me always love Vietnam is the warmth, generosity and ingenuity of the Vietnamese people."

Mr. Kerry said that it was "the resilience and the age-old desire to overcome the darkness of the past to move towards a more prosperous, healthy and free society for children and future generations that has shaped Vietnam's remarkable development process."He believes that with great potential, Vietnam will have a bright future.

The United States looks forward to continuing to strengthen our comprehensive and increasingly strategic relationship with Vietnam to advance our shared interests in building and maintaining a rules-based order, not only in the Asia-Pacific but around the world.

"On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I am very pleased to wish the Vietnamese people joy on National Day, September 2," he said. "TI wish the Vietnamese people peace and prosperity in the coming year."
