What car was the US Secretary of State escorted in when visiting Vietnam?
This is Mr. Antony Blinken's first visit to Vietnam since taking on the role of US Secretary of State.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Vietnam from April 14-16 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. During the trip, the US Secretary of State will travel to Hanoi to promote important discussions with Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership.

Notably, this is the first time Mr. Antony Blinken has come to Vietnam as US Secretary of State. The escort vehicle fleet includes the Chevrolet Suburban, a new vehicle line put into service by the Guard Command.

Like US Vice President Kamala Harris' visit to Vietnam in August 2021, in the escort vehicles there were up to 6 Chevrolet Suburbans transported to our country many days in advance for preparation.

The new Chevrolet Suburban fleet put into service by the Guard Command is the High Country version of the latest generation. Notable exterior features include: Full LED lighting system, 22-inch alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design painted in silver combined with chrome details.
The new generation of Chevrolet Suburban continues to be developed on the body-on-frame platform, with a muscular, masculine overall design. The overall dimensions of length x width x height of the vehicle are 5,733 x 2,060 x 1,923mm respectively.

The entire interior of the Chevrolet Suburban is covered in leather, with a modern design. Behind the steering wheel is an 8-inch digital dashboard, a 10.2-inch floating entertainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity and 9 Bose speakers.

In terms of performance, the Chevrolet Suburban High Country has a 6.2L V8 gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 625Nm at 4,100 rpm. The transmission is a 10-speed automatic, with rear-wheel drive.

In the US, the new Chevrolet Suburban High Country starts at $79,400 (about 1.8 billion VND). In 2021, a Suburban was imported to Vietnam through private import. The seller did not disclose the price, but it certainly was not cheap, as the car was equipped with a large-capacity engine.
In addition to the Chevrolet Suburban series, the US Embassy in Hanoi will also use its bulletproof Cadillac DTS. Previously, during important visits such as those of US Vice President Kamala Harris, the DTS also appeared in the escort.
