Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov condemned the US's provocation of North Korea. |
Speaking in an interview with Belarus' STV on December 2, Mr. Lavrov said: "Along with condemning Pyongyang's missile and nuclear tests, we cannot but condemn the provocative behavior of our American colleagues."
"Tragically, they are also trying to drag Japan and South Korea into those actions. These two countries will become the first victims in case of war on the Korean peninsula," the veteran Russian diplomat added.
The Russian foreign minister also noted that Pyongyang had refrained from launching missiles for more than two months before the latest launch on November 28.
Mr. Lavrov stated: "We are working with Pyongyang. Yet two weeks after the US sent us a signal about its readiness for dialogue, they suddenly announced unscheduled military exercises in December. It seems that they are provoking North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, causing him to take aggressive actions."
