Fishermen in Dien Chau joyfully celebrate the fishing festival, opening the sea to the sea.

The Fishing Festival consists of a ceremonial part and a festive part. The ceremonial part includes traditional rituals such as: the Opening Ceremony, the Announcement Ceremony, the Fishing Prayer Ceremony, the Grand Sacrifice Ceremony, the Thanksgiving Ceremony, the Peace Prayer Ceremony, the Flower Release Ceremony… expressing the reverence and gratitude of the people to the deities and respectfully requesting the deities to bless them with favorable weather, peace, and prosperity for their homeland.

During the flower-releasing ceremony on the Bung River, connecting Dong Loc Fishing Port with the Lach Van estuary, fishermen on nine boats participating in the procession performed the "dipping and pounding" ritual, signifying the opening of the estuary and marking the start of the fishing season. They prayed for the waterway to remain clear, for fishermen to have safe and smooth voyages, and for abundant catches of shrimp and fish, resulting in a bountiful harvest.

The rituals of carrying palanquins, lion and dragon dances, the "dipping and pounding" procession, flower processions, and processions of sacrificial offerings... involve thousands of people welcoming palanquins, performing rituals with male and female officials, playing traditional music, offering incense, flowers, and sacrificial items, and beating drums... along a nearly 1 km stretch of road from the Ca Temple to the Dong Loc fishing port.

In the festival section, folk games such as tug-of-war, blindfolded duck catching, and net weaving were played, fostering a strong sense of community. Particularly noteworthy was the net weaving competition, with the participation of four teams, which recreated the nearly 100-year history of the fishing gear and net-making industry of the coastal village residents, attracting a large crowd of cheering and enthusiastic spectators.

Within the framework of the festival, the local authorities also displayed photos introducing the land, people, cultural traditions, and stalls showcasing typical local products; and organized cultural exchanges between the 18 hamlets in the area.

As one of the five coastal communes of Dien Chau district, Ngoc Bich commune covers an area of ​​nearly 6 square kilometers.²With a population of over 29,000, the commune has 16 occupational groups, with the seafood harvesting profession alone having a tradition of nearly 100 years, passed down through many generations. Currently, the commune has nearly 470 fishing vessels.

Over the decades, the fishing industry has led to the development of many other sectors and trades such as ship repair and construction, seafood processing, net weaving, ice production, and fuel trading, creating diversity and unique characteristics in the local industry structure.

The Fishing Festival is a traditional ritual of the coastal residents aimed at promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation, praying for a new year with many new victories, prosperity and happiness for all families; favorable weather, calm seas, and abundant catches of fish and shrimp; and at the same time, expanding cultural exchange between communes in the district, contributing to promoting the movement of national unity in building a cultured life, and attracting visitors from all over to Ngoc Bich homeland.

Festivals are places to preserve and promote cultural heritage values, and opportunities for local Party committees and authorities to organize celebrations for the people, allowing them to enjoy cultural values ​​at the beginning of spring, creating inspiration for a new year of labor and production.
