Ebola vaccine trials halted due to side effects.
Clinical trials of an Ebola vaccine in Switzerland have been temporarily suspended after four patients complained of joint pain in their legs and arms.
The trial was halted a week earlier than planned, involving all 59 volunteers, as a "precautionary measure," according to a representative from the Geneva University Hospital. The trial will restart on 15 volunteers from January 5th if tests show that the aforementioned joint pain symptoms are mild and transient.
The vaccine in the trial was developed by NewLink, and its rights were recently sold to pharmaceutical company Merck.

Currently, no vaccine has been approved for use against Ebola. Besides the aforementioned vaccine, another vaccine (developed by GlaxoSmithKline) is also undergoing human trials in several countries.
The Ebola virus has been raging in West Africa for the past few months, claiming the lives of more than 6,000 people.
