Former Chelsea midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips inflicted heartbreak on his old club at Stamford Bridge, scoring the winning goal to give Queens Park Rangers a 1-0 victory.

Shaun Wright-Phillips' goal came in the 78th minute of the match with a shot from outside the penalty area.

This victory is truly a priceless gift that helps QPR maintain hope of successfully avoiding relegation this season, just like they did last season.

Notably, this was QPR's second win of the season and also their first victory at Stamford Bridge in exactly 34 years (since their 3-1 win on March 17, 1979).

Despite securing all three points, QPR are still at the bottom of the table. However, they now have 13 points – the same as Reading, who are just below them – and are only five points behind the safety zone.

"Our players gave their all and they were rewarded accordingly," manager Harry Redknapp told the BBC.

"This victory is truly fantastic. Chelsea are flying high at the moment, but we played well."

In his speech, Harry Redknapp also stated that the team would improve significantly with the signing of new players during this transfer window. He also mentioned that before this match, QPR had already signed Joe Cole, a former Chelsea midfielder.

As for Chelsea, this defeat caused them to lose their third-place position to Tottenham. The Blues now have 38 points, one point less than their city rivals, with a game in hand.

This is a huge disappointment for The Blues' fans, especially since Rafael Benitez's team was flying high with four consecutive wins in the Premier League. This defeat also makes Chelsea's chances of winning the title even more remote, as their gap with league leaders Manchester United has now widened to 14 points.

Meanwhile, at Anfield, Luis Suarez continued his impressive form by scoring a brace to help Liverpool secure a 3-0 victory over Sunderland. This win gives The Kop 31 points and lifts them to eighth place.

Along with Liverpool, Everton also had a successful matchday, coming from behind to beat Newcastle 2-1. Cisse gave Newcastle the lead in the 2nd minute, but Baines and Anichebe scored to secure the three points for the visitors. This result allowed Everton to reclaim fifth place from Arsenal, with 36 points.
