People are worried about the increase in water prices.
(Baonghean.vn) - Regarding Nghe An's adjustment to increase clean water price from the current 7,200 VND/m3 to 8,600 VND/m3 (an increase of 19.45%), Nghe An Newspaper reporters recorded the opinions of people and businesses on this issue.
Need to improve the quality of clean water
Mr. Le Van Phuong in group 2, block 24, Hung Binh ward, Vinh city said: "My family has 4 people and the cost of using clean water is from 120,000 - 150,000 VND/month, which is suitable for the family's income. Through reading newspapers and television, we know that the price of clean water will increase soon and the increase is not high. However, the issue we are concerned about is the need to improve the quality of clean water. Previously, the water supply pipe in group 2 was a zinc pipe that ran underground and due to long-term use, water leaked, sometimes the water was cloudy, but now this line has been replaced with a plastic pipe, so there is no water loss, there is no more phenomenon of cloudy, dirty water, but the water still often smells of chlorine, so in the process of using water for daily life, the family must use an additional water filtration system. Therefore, the water supply company needs to improve the quality of clean water".

People in Vinh city are very concerned about the issue of increasing clean water prices and water quality. |
The price of tap water in Hoang Mai is too high.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuyen, Yen Trung block, Quynh Dy ward, Hoang Mai town said: "My family has 6 people, each month we use 8 m3 of domestic water and the price of clean water is 30,000 VND/m3, so the cost is 240,000 VND/month. Domestic water is mainly purchased from private businesses exploiting underground water sources in Quynh Xuan and Mai Hung areas (there are 50 water tankers). We cannot verify the quality of the water source. Moreover, compared to the income level in rural areas, the price of water is too high. Therefore, people hope that all levels and sectors will invest in building clean water plants in the locality and the price will be reasonable and suitable, reducing difficulties in daily living expenses."

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuyen, Yen Trung block, Quynh Dy ward, Hoang Mai town, the cost of clean water for his family is 240,000 VND/month. |
Hoang Mai town has a total population of more than 100,000 people, mainly concentrated in coastal communes and wards, along both sides of Hoang Mai river, the water source is mostly saline and alum-contaminated water. Therefore, the need for domestic water for the people here is very urgent. Meanwhile, in the area there is only 1 water plant in Quynh Xuan ward.
Hope water prices don't increase:
"I am currently renting a room and studying in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city. The total electricity and water bills for my roommate and I are nearly 200,000 VND per month, of which the water bill through the landlord is nearly 50,000 VND. Because I am still a student and my main source of income is from part-time jobs, I hope the water and electricity prices do not increase because the monthly rent is already 500,000 VND" - Nguyen Van Hien in hamlet 15 Nghi Phu shared.

The price of clean water in Quynh Luu is reasonable.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Van Cam - Resident of Block 3, Cau Giat Town (Quynh Luu) said: Currently, his family is using clean water produced by Quynh Luu Water Plant. Currently, the water price his family pays monthly is from 6.3 - 6.6 thousand VND/m3 of water. This is an acceptable price for his family as well as the residents of Cau Giat Town.
TOn average, his family uses 15 cubic meters of water a month, equivalent to nearly 95 thousand VND. However, the quality of clean water is still not guaranteed. During use, the water still contains chlorine gas, and the water's pumping force is still slow, so the water must be drained into a tank before using a pump to go upstairs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu) said: His family has been using tap water for many years now, the price of tap water has only increased slightly, but it has not affected the people's economy. Currently, the price he has to pay monthly is 6.5 thousand VND/m3 of water.
However, the quality of clean water here is not guaranteed. The water has not been treated so it is sometimes cloudy, flows slowly, and still smells of chlorine. He suggested that Quynh Luu Water Plant should invest in equipment to ensure the best clean water source for the people.
Businesses find it difficult to increase product prices due to competition.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Director of An Phu Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company said: On average, the company consumes 400m per month.3tap water/day, peak summer up to 500m3/day. Average consumption 4,000m3 water/month to Vinh city market and districts.
Products include purified ice, bottled water and jarred water. Priced at 11,500 VND/m3(including VAT), every month the business spends over 50 million VND/month on water. The price of tap water will increase by 15%, which will be a big difficulty for the business because the competitive factor cannot increase input prices to increase product prices.
Not yet assured about the quality of clean water in Anh Son
Ms. Le Thi Mai - owner of a restaurant in block 4b, Anh Son Town said: My family uses tap water but not much because we have well water and stored rainwater. Besides, when using tap water, it sometimes has an odor, when cooked, a layer of scum appears so it is not really safe to use. Tap water is only used for washing or doing laundry.

Anh Son water station staff check the clean water treatment system |
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Dong - Head of Anh Son Water Supply Station said: Currently, the station supplies water to 800 households in communes such as town, Thach Son, Phuc Son with a capacity of 550 m3/day, ensuring clean water standards. However, due to drilling at a depth of 50m, the water vein collides with the limestone source, causing calcium precipitation but still meets the allowable standards. In the coming time, to better serve the water needs of the people, we will focus on exploiting surface water sources in Lam River and then treating them to supply to the people.
