This is the fifth night that peach and kumquat traders at the Citadel Gate in Cua Nam Ward have been staying in temporary tents to look after their ornamental plants. The cold weather has made their work more difficult. “Kumquats have been arriving for several days but there are still not many buyers. Hopefully, in the last days of the year, purchasing power will increase so that we can sell all the remaining kumquats and peaches and have a little more money to buy Tet gifts for our wives and children,” said a trader at the Cua Nam Citadel Gate. For more than a week now, the temperature in Vinh city has dropped, making Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan (a small trader of peach and apricot flowers at the City Gate in Cua Nam Ward) worried. Mr. Toan shared: "The cold and rainy weather in the past few days has made it difficult to transport and sell apricot and peach flowers. We have stayed up many nights to take care of the trees, helping them stay green and bloom right on Tet. It has been raining, accompanied by frost, so we have had to stretch tarps to prevent the trees from turning yellow. I hope the weather will be favorable so that flower and ornamental plant traders can have a more fulfilling Tet." Photo: Duc Anh
