Pygmy Loris, orThe pygmy loris, scientifically known as Nycticebus pygmaeus, is a unique primate species belonging to the loris subfamily found only in the forests of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

They have a special place in the study of evolution and adaptation to arboreal life. Currently, this species of small loris is threatened with extinction in Vietnam as well as in the world and has been included in the Vietnam Red Book.

According to Decree 06/2019 of the Government, forest animals and plants will be divided into the following main groups:

  • Group I: Endangered forest flora and fauna species, all exploitation and use for commercial purposes are strictly prohibited. Group IA is plant species and Group IB is forest fauna.
  • Group II: Includes forest animals and plants that are not yet threatened with extinction but need to be protected and their exploitation and use for commercial purposes restricted. Group IIA is plant species and IIB is forest animals.
