Farmers in Nghe An are increasingly applying digital transformation in production, connecting with business partners, and selling their products.

Actively promote your products online.

Born and raised in a family with a tradition of woodworking, Tran Ngoc Huy, from Tho Son hamlet, Tho Hop commune, Quy Hop district, has a passion for wood carving art. After graduating from university, Huy continued to equip himself with knowledge about handcrafted wood art. After a period of research and learning, Huy opened a workshop for creating wooden paintings and improved his skills by taking on carving and sculpting projects on wood.

Having gained confidence in his skills, Huy boldly invested in advanced machinery to produce decorative details on wooden materials. This reduced labor, increased productivity and product quality, and accelerated the processing, leading to large-scale production. The products are sold within the province and in other provinces and cities.

Mr. Huy said: "Taking advantage of the raw materials from the forest, five years ago I invested in a model for processing handcrafted wood products. Digital transformation has been effectively applied in creating designs suitable for each type of product and in online sales. Expanding the consumer market on digital platforms helps businesses reach new customer segments, aligning with current consumer trends..."

In Dien Lien commune, Dien Chau district, many people are impressed by the farm models there.

The family of Ms. Phan Thi Hue in Dien Lien commune, Dien Chau district, has planned a 4-hectare farm. Within this farm, they have invested in building fish ponds, intercropping fruit trees such as pomelo and jackfruit, ornamental plants, and raising poultry. Their products are sold as soon as they are produced, thanks to Ms. Hue's effective use of digital platforms for marketing and promotion. They earn hundreds of millions of dong in profit each year.

Ms. Hue shared: "Before smartphones or social media, we had to take our produce to the market ourselves or wait for people to come to our house to ask to buy it. In recent years, during the harvest season for fish, poultry, or fruits from my garden, I post on Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok with my phone number so that people know about it and can contact me in advance if they are interested. Since applying technology, our family's produce sells much faster, and we've gained new loyal customers."

For over two years, live streaming on Facebook and TikTok has become a daily routine for the family of Mr. Luong Chi Bao in Kim Son town, Que Phong district. This Thai ethnic minority family has successfully promoted their fermented pork product on social media. With a Facebook page and TikTok channel boasting many followers, each live stream attracts hundreds of viewers, allowing their product to quickly reach consumers.

Mr. Bao said: “Every day, my family makes dishes like fermented pork, braised beef, pickled bamboo shoots, etc. My mother is the main cook, and I set up the equipment to livestream, cooking and chatting with viewers at the same time. Many people find the process delicious, clean, and the way I talk charming, so they've developed a positive impression and placed orders. The consumption of these dishes has increased 2-3 times since we started using technology.”

Towards a transparent production system, helping to increase profits.

As for Mr. Duong Van Toan in Hong Thap hamlet, Nghia Loc commune, Nghia Dan district, with the desire to develop his family's economy and create jobs and increase income for local people, in 2021, he boldly borrowed 450 million VND to cultivate oyster mushrooms. This is the first mushroom cultivation model in the commune.

Speaking about how he got into mushroom farming, Toan said that he had a passion for clean agricultural products and regularly watched agricultural programs and read newspapers and magazines about new models and good practices to accumulate more experience. At the same time, he directly visited mushroom production facilities to understand the situation, and only after seeing that it was feasible did he return to his hometown to apply it.

Mr. Toan said: After harvesting, oyster mushrooms are supplied to wholesale markets, traders, and organic food stores in the province at a price of 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg. Growing oyster mushrooms is a sustainable direction with stable output and income, creating jobs for local people. More importantly, it is a green economic model, utilizing by-products in production to create clean, environmentally friendly products.

"In the near future, I plan to expand production, continue borrowing from the bank to buy more machinery, expand the workshop, especially to buy an automatic molding machine, instead of doing it manually as we do now, hoping to increase production output. At the same time, to reach a wider market, we also plan to list our products on e-commerce platforms and sell them through social media... to increase production profits," Mr. Toan shared.

With the support and cooperation of various levels of associations, farmers are increasingly interested in applying digital transformation in production and business; focusing on using e-commerce platforms, online sales channels, and interactive sales (livestreaming) to promote and sell their products. This contributes to increasing income and creating more jobs for rural workers.

Over the past period, farmers' associations at all levels have coordinated with various levels and sectors to organize numerous training courses on science and technology and information technology, creating conditions for tens of thousands of farmer members to apply scientific and technological advancements in production, business, and product promotion and consumption.

"

Farmers' associations at all levels have focused on combining vocational training and technology transfer with support for loans from the Farmers' Support Fund, program and project funds, and model funds to support and guide farmers in building agricultural production models applying new science and technology, creating products along the value chain, and providing employment for laborers. In 2023, associations at all levels supported the establishment of 168 new effective economic development models.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung – Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association

The Provincial Farmers' Association, along with local authorities, also directed support for 14 stores selling clean agricultural products to operate effectively, while promoting activities to connect and support the consumption of agricultural products for farmers. They organized 415 booths to promote and introduce their products at the Farmers' Association Congresses at all levels for the 2023-2028 term and major festivals throughout the year.

Continue to promote the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the Vietnam Post Corporation on supporting farmers in digital transformation in agricultural production and consumption, introducing and promoting products, and bringing agricultural products to the Postmart e-commerce platform.

Digital transformation in agriculture is an inevitable trend in modern agricultural production. It not only contributes to improving product quality but also provides an opportunity to move towards a transparent production system, helping to increase profits.

To support members, farmers, and production facilities in gradually accessing and applying digital transformation to production and business, the Farmers' Association at all levels has focused on disseminating information about policies and guidelines in the development of the digital economy; and providing training and guidance on selling goods on e-commerce platforms for members and farmers.
