Man holds girlfriend hostage, shoots and wounds police officer.
Holding his girlfriend hostage and barricading himself inside the house, Dung even shot a police officer who came to rescue the hostage in the hand.
At approximately 1:30 PM on July 29th, Nguyen Tuan Dung (40 years old), under the influence of methamphetamine, held his girlfriend (47 years old) hostage with a knife and an air gun, then barricaded himself on the second floor of a house on Linh Nam Street, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi.

When police arrived to persuade him, Dung shot an officer in the hand, injuring him. Police from the 113 emergency response unit were then dispatched to cordon off the scene.
At 3 PM, authorities subdued Dung and safely rescued the hostage. Police recovered one air rifle and two knives at the scene.
Dũng is currently being detained at the Hoàng Mai District Police Station.
