Choice ofPeoplewas announced on Stephen Colbert's late-night show and on the magazine's website. Chris Evans, who has played Captain America in Marvel's hit superhero movies for nearly a decade, won over fellow "Avenger" Paul Rudd.

"My mom would be so happy," he told the magazine in the cover story. "She's proud of everything I do, but this is something she can really brag about," Chris Evans added. The actor also knows he's likely to get teased by his close friends for the title.

Other past honorees include: John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Richard Gere, Channing Tatum and David Beckham.

Evans' perfect appearance helps her shine in every camera angle and "handle" many different fashion styles.

In the interview, Chris Evans (41) confided, while on a farm in Georgia, the actor talked about his search for a better balance between work and life. "The most exciting aspect of my career right now is feeling secure enough to let my foot off the gas," he said.

Evans's first film role was inThe New Comersin 2000 and he played superhero Johnny Storm in two films.Fantastic Fourdebuted in 2005 and 2007. The actor rose to widespread fame in 2011 with the debut ofCaptain America: The First Avenger.

Since then, he has played the superhero in 10 Marvel films, dropping his shield after saving the universe inAvengers: Endgamein 2019.

The actor toldPeoplethat he is thinking about marriage and a family: "That's absolutely what I want."

Chris Evans said he doesn't expect to talk much about his private life publicly. "Some things I want to keep just for me or just for my family and friends."

As Evans assesses the next part of his life and career, he fully expects the accolades ofPeoplewould be a milestone. “It’s something that when I get older and my muscles start to sag, I can look back and say, ‘I was lucky to be a factor in any debate about me,’” Evans says.
