The accident occurred at 11:10 a.m. on January 27, 2019 at Son Thanh Intersection, Ta Ca Commune, Ky Son District (Nghe An). The car with a Lao license plate was traveling from Nam Can International Border Gate - Muong Xen Town when it suddenly lost control, hit a tree on the side of the road, then overturned, blocking National Highway 7.

The truck was carrying dozens of tons of rice. The sacks were scattered on the road, creating a chaotic scene. Immediately, people living along the road came to the rescue and helped the driver collect the rice.
The incident left the driver and a passenger with minor injuries. The driver is known to be from Hoa Son village, Ta Ca commune. The accident occurred when he was transporting rice for Tet from Nam Can International Border Gate to inland Vietnam.
