(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 28, dozens of people from Quynh Loc commune (Hoang Mai town) gathered at the gas extraction area that caused the explosion on the evening of September 27 to demand that authorities quickly clarify the cause of the incident.

Due to the ongoing investigation, this morning (September 28), the area around the gas extraction facility in Hamlet 5, Quynh Loc Commune was completely closed.

Panicked by the gas explosion last night, from early morning, many people in the neighborhood gathered at the factory to ask the authorities to investigate.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh - living next to the gas extraction area recounted: at 8pm last night, while the whole family was watching TV, they suddenly heard a loud explosion. They ran out and saw the gas extraction area on fire. Panicking, she quickly took her young child to evacuate to another place to avoid the disaster.

“We request that the gas extraction area no longer operate in this area, it is very dangerous near residential areas,” said Ms. Linh.

According to local residents, there are dozens of households living around this gas extraction area. If the factory does not ensure fire safety, it will greatly affect people's lives.

Talking with Mr. Le Duy Trung - Chairman of Quynh Loc Commune People's Committee, Hoang Mai town, it was known that the gas extraction area belongs to a company headquartered in Vinh city. This facility has a license to operate gas extraction.

When asked about whether the factory has fully ensured fire safety or the close distance between the factory and the residential area, Mr. Trung said: this task is under the authority of the authorities, and hereby requests the police to check whether the factory has ensured safety or not. If it reaches an unsafe level, it must be handled and the location of operation must be changed to ensure the safety of the people.

“As someone present at the scene when the fire broke out, there were about 6 trucks parked inside the factory and thousands of gas cylinders stacked around. The explosion burned 2 trucks, causing an estimated damage of nearly 1 billion VND,” Mr. Trung added.

This morning, Fire Police Department No. 4 of Nghe An located in Hoang Mai town, the town police force was present at the scene to grasp the situation and investigate the cause of the incident.
