Residents of Tan An commune voluntarily donated thousands of square meters of land to open roads.

Willing to donate land for the common good.

These days, along the route from Highway 370 through Tan An commune (the section from Khe Sanh to the former Nghia Phuc commune), construction is proceeding urgently and busily.

Machinery and heavy equipment were mobilized simultaneously to level the roadbed, and a new transportation project is gradually taking shape. Local residents are eagerly awaiting the new, spacious road after years of anticipation.

The family of Mr. Dau Tien Sy, residing in Thanh Binh hamlet, is one of the households that voluntarily donated land for the road. According to the road boundary markers, each side of his family's land had to be moved back 3 meters, with a total length of 120 meters, resulting in a total donated land area of ​​approximately 360 square meters. Not only did they donate land, but the family also proactively dismantled their gate and fence without any requests or demands for compensation.

Mr. Sy shared that, from childhood to the present day, the dirt road in front of his house has always been a nightmare whenever it rained. Children would slip on the muddy road going to school, and adults would get covered in mud on their way to work in the fields. Therefore, when the local authorities implemented the project to build a concrete road, his family considered donating land as both a responsibility and a shared joy. "We only hope the road will be completed soon, built securely, so that people can travel conveniently in the long term," Mr. Sy expressed.

Mr. Tran Van Hung's family also voluntarily donated nearly 600 square meters of land. His family's plot of land has a frontage of nearly 200 meters along the road, and according to the design, it must be set back 3 meters. Although the affected area is significant, Mr. Hung fully agrees. For him, the long-term benefit of the community is more important than the immediate loss. "A wide, beautiful road benefits not only my family but the entire neighborhood and the whole commune," Mr. Hung said.

Stories like those of Mr. Sy and Mr. Hung's families are not isolated incidents. According to statistics from the Tan An Commune People's Committee, 100% of households whose land is affected by the road have voluntarily donated land, totaling over 9,000 m². This is an impressive figure, clearly demonstrating the sense of responsibility and solidarity of the people in jointly building rural infrastructure.

Observations show that in some sections, although residents have donated land, the site clearance is not yet completely finished. However, the households are actively cooperating with the local authorities to hand over the cleared land as soon as possible, creating favorable conditions for the construction unit to accelerate progress and ensure the quality of the project.

The path to creating "leverage" for socio-economic development.

According to the technical design documents, this road is over 2.3 km long, passing through many residential areas and agricultural land. The roadbed cross-section is 9 m wide, of which the concrete surface is 7.5 m wide, with a concrete thickness of 20 cm, meeting the requirements for long-term use.

Not only is the road surface carefully designed, but structures along the route such as drainage culverts, ditches, and traffic safety systems are also designed for durability. The route is equipped with traffic signs and road markings to ensure the safety of people and vehicles using the road.

The total investment for the project is estimated at approximately 19.5 billion VND, to be mobilized from the commune budget, the provincial budget, and other legal sources of capital. The implementation period will not exceed 2 years from the date of commencement, ensuring progress according to the planned schedule.

The initial success of the project lies not only in the scale of investment or technical design, but more importantly, in the high level of public consensus. Even before the project's implementation, Tan An commune focused on publicizing the planning, boundaries, and design options so that the people understood them correctly. The opinions and suggestions of the people were listened to and explained promptly, creating trust and unity during the implementation process.

It was this transparency and openness that reassured the people, making them willing to donate land and dismantle auxiliary structures without considering the potential losses. For the people here, the new road is not just a transportation infrastructure, but also an important "lever" for developing production, trading goods, and improving their quality of life.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc, Chairman of the Tan An Commune People's Committee, said that the local government, in coordination with relevant units, is implementing the project in accordance with regulations, ensuring quality and progress. During the construction process, the commune continues to mobilize the people to cooperate in handing over clean land and promptly resolving any arising difficulties. The goal is to complete the project in June 2026.

Upon completion, the road connecting District Road 370 to Nghia Phuc will create a convenient transportation space, linking residential areas and production zones, and facilitating socio-economic development in Tan An commune. More importantly, this project is a vivid testament to the power of the people's will, showing that when the right policies are implemented, the methods are appropriate, and the people agree, all difficulties can be overcome.

From donated land and voluntarily dismantled fences, a new road is gradually taking shape – a road that not only connects different regions but also fosters trust between the government and the people, creating a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the locality in the years to come.
