The bride of Tan Huong village
(Baonghean) - Ka Thi Nam is an Ede ethnic woman from the Central Highlands, now a citizen of Nghe An, and it is worth mentioning that she has become a prestigious person in Tan Huong village (Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong district)...
In 1993, Ms. Ka Thi Nam (born in 1977) got married to her husband in Thai Tan Huong village. They had two children, a boy and a girl. Life was difficult at that time because the family lacked land for production. In 2003, she discussed with her husband and came to an important decision: Sell 2 buffaloes (their most valuable asset at that time) for 10 million VND, and buy land from some people around the village to develop the economy. Having land, they struggled for a long time not knowing what to plant to bring high efficiency? After a long process, they realized that the land here was suitable for growing tea. That was in 2007.

Thanks to her hard work, Ms. Nam's family now has 7 sao of tea. She shared: "This 7 sao tea garden, every 3 months, harvests 2 times, each time about 1.5 tons. The current selling price is 4.2 million VND/1 ton". Thus, every 3 months, the couple earns more than 12 million VND. Seeing that there is still land left to grow, she learned and planted 200 more orange trees. Currently, with about 2 sao of empty land left, she plans to grow grass to raise buffaloes and cows (her family is raising 6 buffaloes). Thanks to stable economic development, Ms. Nam's family has raised 2 children to go to university. And, Ms. Nam's economic model is a model for the local people in the area to follow...
The trust of Tan Huong villagers for Ms. Nam is increasing day by day, because she also enthusiastically participates in activities in the village: building new huts, planting tea, sharing some experiences in caring for, harvesting and consuming products... She also spends time participating in the activities of the Women's Union, the Farmers' Union of the village, and also takes the time to learn about crops and livestock that bring high efficiency on each terrain, suitable for the working conditions of each household, helping people have business plans to escape poverty.
Talking about Ms. Ka Thi Nam, the people of Tan Huong village unanimously commented: "Ms. Nam is a person who knows how to do business, is eager to learn, is emotional, and enthusiastically helps everyone, thus contributing to creating good solidarity in the village." With the results of her work and social activities in 2013, Ms. Ka Thi Nam was awarded a certificate of merit by the district, and is one of two typical faces representing the ethnic minorities of Yen Khe commune to attend the upcoming provincial congress of ethnic minorities!
